It’s New York in the swinging sixties-the age of mod fashion and Twiggy, Paco Rabanne and miniskirts. The Loretto sisters have it all worked out. Lotte Loretto accepted her dream position as a designer at the glamorous Morland’s Department Store. Barbie Loretto perfected her modeling strut. Tricia Loretto landed a prestigious scholarship at Athens Prep High School. Just when Lotte is about to place the first stitch in her fashion dreams, she finds out there was an unfortunate mix up in her paperwork–ahem coffee spill- and she has been replaced. In order to support her sisters she takes the only position available– a lowly, inventory girl in the basement, with a big pay cut to boot. Devastated, she arrives home to find Barbie has blown the monthly budget on fashion magazines and Tricia has already jeopardized her scholarship with a scandalous outburst, causing the sister’s biggest fight yet. But they will need each other to navigate this whirlwind world of fashion, gossip, romance and all-night parties. If they don’t stick together, the city might just tear them apart.
